Hockey Fans Fight Cancer

Stay connected for news and updates

In case you hadn't seen this, I wanted to share.

Ross Bonander at The Hockey Writers wrote this article And it touched me.

He also had this to say in an email that I received

As many of you know, there is a labor stoppage in the National Hockey League. While this impacts so many people whose livelihoods depend on NHL hockey, it also impacts cancer patients. The NHL and the NHL Players Association hold the biggest charity initiative of the season in October, "Hockey Fights Cancer." Annually it raises about $1 million for four partner charities.
In a lockout, it raises nothing.
So I decided I would launch "Hockey Fans Fight Cancer" with the motto, "If hockey won't do it, hockey fans will." To that end, I established a grassroots campaign through Livestrong, in part because it was the easiest and quickest to set up. I'm asking for no more than $5 donations.
I'm actually getting harassed by the league over this, but there's nothing they can do. Except end the lockout and get back to work.

No pressure, do with it what you will.

I just think it is good for us to remember that the lockout is affecting more than just the paychecks of a few millionaires.
