Brace yourselves Avalanche fans, Adrian Dater just posted some horrible news. Steve Downie, who went down during the second period against the LA Kings on January 22nd, 2013, with a knee injury will be out for the season.

Steve Downie torn ACL, out for season. Brad Malone called up

Downie had 1 assist and 6 penalty minutes this season. Last year with the Avalanche, he played 20 games and had 2 goals, 11 points and 16 penalty minutes. Downie came to the Avalanche last year in the trade that saw Kyle Quincey leave the Avalanche.

Brad Malone played nine games for Colorado last season. In that time he had no goals, 2 assists and was a +1.

This isn't good news for the Avalanche faithful, however, this might force the Avalanche to make a move on Ryan O`Reilly. What do you think? Will the Avs now rush to sign Radar?
