Duchene and Parenteau stepping up

Matt Duchene's two goals and Parenteau's goal in the 4-0 route of Columbus showed the Avs are starting to play well on both offense and defense.

Duchene was expected to have a big season this year after being hobbled by injuries last season. Parenteau also had big goal in the Avs 3-1 win over the Stanley Cup champion LA Kings. Landeskog also scored in the Kings win.

Parenteau was a major acquisition from the Islanders after posting 18 goals last season and 20 the year before.

With Downie going down for the season the Avs need to get serious about singing O'Reilly. The Dallas signing of Jamie Benn provides a partial framework for negotiations with O'Reilly.

The Avs really need to get serious about making the playoffs this season. At least, Duchene and Parenteau are serious about making a playoff run.
