Bad news for the Oilers, Hall is expected to be out for a month.

Edmonton Oilers forward Taylor Hall is expected to miss four weeks of action after suffering a left knee injury in a game last Saturday.

General manager Craig MacTavish confirmed the injury timeline Tuesday morning through a post on the team’s Twitter feed.

Hall, the first overall pick in the 2010 NHL Entry Draft, has three goals and five assists in nine games this season. He was hurt on an innocent-looking play in Edmonton’s 3-1 win at Ottawa.

Hall was just inside the Senators’ blue-line when he turned and hobbled to the bench. He left following the game with his knee in a brace but without the use of crutches.

Hockey Canada is taking a look at where their products are being made.

Hockey Canada, the sport’s national governing body, is looking at ways to ensure that its hockey merchandise is sourced from ethical suppliers.

The idea was presented last week to the executive committee of Hockey Canada’s board of directors.

The move was prompted by recent concerns about “what’s happening with factories in Bangladesh,” said one of the board’s vice-chairs, Terry Ledingham.

No hockey games to start the season in Europe? Could happen...

5. The other battleground is Europe. Hockey Night in Canada analyst Glenn Healy reported on Hotstove Tonight that there will be no European games next season because the NHLPA dragged its feet. It sounds like that was news to the 'PA as there is a conversation scheduled for this week. What is definitely true: the NHL thinks the union moves at a glacial pace, while the union believes history proves these events don't need to be scheduled this quickly. Ah, memories of Manhattan sidewalks and bank vestibules.
