Preview: Jets at Avalanche, Game 38

Ron Chenoy-USA TODAY Sports

The Colorado Avalanche (23-11-3) kick off their crucial seven game homestand against the division rival Winnipeg Jets (17-18-5).

The Avs are no doubt hungry to rebound after a 7-2 shellacking at the hands of the division leading Chicago Blackhawks on Friday.

They play their next seven games at the Can and need to take advantage of it: Winnipeg (Dec. 29), Columbus (New Years Eve), Philadelphia (Jan. 2), San Jose (Jan. 4), Calgary (Jan. 6), Ottawa (Jan. 8), and NY Islanders (Jan. 10). I don't know about you guys but I see 9-10 points as a successful homestand, with anything less a disappointment.

Tonight's matchup marks the third of five meetings between the Avs and Jets. Colorado came out on top in their first two meetings, both of them come-from-behind victories: 3-2 at home, and a 4-3 shootout in Winnipeg.
