The Avalanche take on the Detroit Red Wings tomorrow in Detroit and the numbers below may surprise you. Well, they surprised me at least. The Avs are 6-5-1 against Detroit in the Duchene era and have averaged nearly 3 goals a game (hence the nice numbers below). On the flip side, they've allowed a little more than 3 goals a game against, which is why they are just barely over .500 in recent history.
Matt Duchene, Ryan O'Reilly, Gabe Landeskog and, yes, David Jones have all put up pretty good numbers against the Wings, while Paul Stastny and Milan Hejduk have traditionally struggled. Cody McLeod scored his first career goal against Detroit, but only has 3 career points and one thrown octopus against the Wings in his career. Time for a breakout.
