Trade Predictor Contest

I have read this message board for a few weeks now and since it is the offseason there is of course a million trade rumors going around. In all the years that I have read trade rumors, I can't actually remember anyone (expert or not) accurately predicting a trade beforehand.

I find on message boards specifically that the trade predictions are completely one sided, don't take into account the salary cap, or by just blind luck don't match the trades that actually happen. There is obviously a lot of luck that goes into predicting trades beforehand so I thought it would be fun in the doldrums of the coming offseason to have a competition.

Out of my own pocket I will give 50 bucks to the first person that comments on this board with an accurate trade prediction. The rules are as follows:

  • You have until the NHL draft to make however many trade predictions that you want in the comment section of this post. Any predictions received after the first pick is announced (come on Mackinnon) will be disregarded, though if you pick correctly I will be impressed ( I know that is not that exciting comparably)
  • The competition ends when either a correct trade happens or the puck drops on the NHL regular season
  • The first message that contains an accurate NHL trade wins the money
  • The definition of an accurate trade is that you must accurately pick all of the NHL players involved in the trade and where they are headed, along with any draft picks, and any top 100 prospects as defined by hockeys future.com as of this date.
As you can see the this will be much harder than it sounds and I imagine that no one will actually win but I would love to be proven wrong by one of you out there. Please comment with any questions, but more importantly have fun with it. I really want to make the typical trade predictions that dot this board a little more interesting. If this contest proves interesting I plan on having more in the future. Go Avalanche!!!
