After going through yet another lackluster-shitty season you would think any Avs fan would be depressed, and maybe because the draft is in the air, I'm fooling myself into believing that that all is well in Avs land. But you know what? I'm pumped for next season already, I'm excited that we already have two of the best young forwards in the game (Landy and Duchene) and Varlimov who is only 25. I'm pumped that the last ten number one picks are as follows; Nash, Andre-Fluery, Ovetchkin, Crosby, Johnson, Kane, Stamkos, Hall, Nugent-Hopkins, and Yakupov. As much as anyone I want MacKinnon to be the next Crosby, but I'd settle for him being Lecavalier or Nash, or better yet, simply Nate the Great. I'm pumped that we have Roy and Sakic back running our team and I'm happy we got Tanguay back as well. If we managed to hit on this pick of MacKinnon, in two years we will have a combination of three young stars whose average age is 22 years old and a 27 year old goalie entering his prime. It reminds me of this other team we once had when Sakic was 26, Forsberg 22, Deadmarsh 20, Foote 24 and Roy 30.
I may have gone a little too far and I'm clearly putting the cart before the horse, but the point of this rant is for the first time in a long time no NHL team's future looks as bright as ours. Unfortunately we lost our bitter rival to the Eastern Conference so I won't end this with a f**k the Red Wings post frankly I'm over those clowns, and lucky for me I recently have grown an enormous hatred for all things Chicago. A message to that team that just won the cup: Don't forget who ended your streak this year, we're coming after you and your hardware and we're catching up fast kind of like an AAAAVVVVAAAAAALLLLAAAAANNNNCCCCHHHHHEEEEE. See you in the fall.
