Brendan Morrow will be part of the Tampa Bay squad next season.

The Tampa Bay Lightning have signed free agent forwards Brenden Morrow and Philippe Paradis to a pair of one-year contracts.

Financial terms were not released. Morrow earned $1.5-million last season while Paradis earned $67,600 last season in the American Hockey League.

Dubinsky got a 6 year extension with the Blue Jackets.

The Columbus Blue Jackets have signed centre Brandon Dubinsky to a six-year contract extension worth a reported $35.1 million US through the 2020-21 season.

The 28-year-old Dubinsky, acquired two years ago in the blockbuster deal with the New York Rangers for Rick Nash, has scored 18 goals with 52 assists and a plus-7 rating in 105 games the past two seasons. He was at his best in last season's six-game playoff series with Pittsburgh, scoring a goal with five assists while frequently matched up against Penguins superstar Sidney Crosby.

Hockey's Future looks at two Avalanche sections. (Videos from the Draft Combine included.)

After the Avalanche’s 2014 postseason run came to an end, head coach Patrick Roy and executive VP of hockey operations Joe Sakic got right to work molding their team’s prospect pool to their likings.

The duo kicked things off by signing five free agent players to entry-level contracts from various European and CHL leagues. The players signed exhibited similar qualities of possessing size, skills, and character both on and off the ice. They continued that trend with their selections in the 2014 NHL Draft.

Red Deer Rebels captain and centerman, Conner Bleackley, headlines this draft class for the Avalanche and embodies everything that the team wants in a player. After Bleackley, the Colorado Avalanche selected three additional forwards, two defensemen, and one goalie. Two of those forwards are versatile in that they are able to play both the center and wing positions.

Cameron Gaunce re-signed with the Dallas Stars.

Cameron Gaunce was hoping the Dallas Stars would make him a reasonable offer to remain with their organization for the upcoming 2014-15 National Hockey League season.

The Stars did just that, inking the Markham resident to a one-year deal, the NHL club announced Friday.

Financial terms were not disclosed.

Greg Zanon signed with the Florida Panthers.

The Florida Panthers have signed veteran defenseman Greg Zanon and center Brett Olson to one-year, two-way contracts. The new acquistions will likely be part of the supporting cast around some the organization's top prospects in San Antonio this season.

The 34-year-old Zanon has been playing professionally since 2003-04 when he joined the AHL's Milwaukee Admirals after four years at the University of Nebraska-Omaha. The Burnaby, BC native has appeared in 493 NHL regular season games, suiting up for the Nashville Predators, Minnesota Wild, Boston Bruins and Colorado Avalanche. After being bought out by Colorado, Zanon played 24 games for the San Antonio Rampage last season and was an alternate captain. He was originally drafted by the Ottawa Senators, 156th overall, in the 2000 Entry Draft.
