Avs announce partnership with Food Network

The Colorado Avalanche are excited to announced a new partnership with the Food Network. After the success of our Imagine Avs music video, we wanted to take another step forward with our marketing. A social media teaser was launched to lead up to this exciting time for our franchise. Fans have been engaged and eager to discover what we have had up our sleeves, and we couldn't be more pleased to bring this to them. The biggest speculation on twitter was a potential new uniform design. However, in light of the new contract with Food Network, we think our fans will be pleased that the unipron is here to stay. The unipron has great synergy with cooking and food, and will help cement the legacy we wish to create moving forward.

Food Network president Travis Pastrami says "the Avalanche are a dynamic NHL team on the rise, with a roster we are looking forward to working with. We targeted the Avalanche, for specific players. We are excited to incorporate them into our current line-up of programming, and think this is an essential step to growing the brand of both parties involved."

The players have already been filming their shows, and are having a blast. Matt Duchene and Nathan MacKinnon have teamed up for a show called Speedy Meals on Ice. Food Network coordinator Ieta Lott explained "preparing meals can be tedious and time consuming. The premise of this show is all about speed. We want to give our viewers a glimpse on how they can prepare delicious meals using food from the frozen section of their supermarket. Matt and Nate cook in 30 second shifts, letting the microwave do most of the work. At the end of the day, they have cooked up a delicious meal in less than 20 minutes. Now that's a power play!" Tune in for the opening episode, where Matt cooks up a delicious vodka based sauce to compliment a chicken, roasted pepper, and pasta dish.

Jamie McGinn is being featured in a show where he travels to sports venues around the nation and samples all of the concessions each arena or stadium has to offer. It is important to the Avalanche to have a show with a sports theme. Food Network wants to mimic the success of a rival program called Man vs. Food, but there was concern about finding someone suitable on our roster to fill the role. Fortunately, we offered up Jamie McGinn. Jamie has been a real trooper, as it is no small feat to sample all of the concessions each stadium has to offer during a single game. A member of the film crew was overheard saying "what a fatass" after McGinn finished off an extreme nacho platter, fried onion bratwurst, BBQ deluxe double cheeseburger, and a candy coated pretzel XL during a single inning at a recent baseball game.

Other shows include a feature with Erik Johnson and Cody McLeod called Soft Foods. Food Network received a sizable donation from Kevin Bacon who had a grandmother short on teeth, but high on appetite. A niche market should appreciate Erik and Cody preparing and sampling cuisine which is easy on the gums. Gabe Landeskog, Max Talbot, Alex Tanguay, and John Mitchell will be hosting a show called The Fourcheck, which will highlight restaurants ideal for groups of friends to grab a bite. Make sure you remind your server to split the check four ways. Tyson Barrie will host a show called Don't Cooke it, Grille it! This show is sure to get you fired up, and knee deep in mouth watering meals straight from the barbeque. Nathan MacKinnon will host a webcast featuring the craft beer in the Denver area. "Hope you're thirsty," says Ietta Lott.

Long time Avalanche player Paul Stastny will be an integral part of introducing a new wave of online presence for the Food Network. Head over to YouTube and check out Paul cooking up his signature breakfast dish, Eggs Benedict. A show called Dinner with Character centered around Ryan O'Reilly is planned, but has not yet begun filming while contract demands between him and Food Network are worked out.

Tune in this fall when your Colorado Avalanche hit the ice for an exciting season of hockey. And head on over to Food Network to see the Avs in action! It's a new age of Avalanche hockey. We hope your Avetite can handle it!
