A Ryan O'Reilly Essay

Trading Ryan O’Reilly: A Dubious Case by Cincy Avs Fan (Only)

Throughout history, man has wanted to trade O’Reilly. Webster’s Dictionary defines a trade as "the act of exchanging one thing for another," and this is pertinent to the situation between O’Reilly and the Avalanche. If O’Reilly is to be traded by Sakic, the return could be great. This is important, because this could effect [sic] the team in many ways I will tell you about.

Firstly, Ryan O’Reilly scored 28 goals last year. Ryan O’Reilly had n assists last year (ed. note I don’t remember how many). Ryan O’Reilly’s plusminus was n last year. Since he is a free agent next season Ryan O’Reilly will literally make $7 million next year. Ryan O’Reilly is not on [sic] route to 28 goals this season.

Also, trades like this one have been done before. I found on Wikipedia that Evander Kane was traded for a very young and potentially terrific young defenseman. They said this: Following off ice issues involving management and teammates, the Jets traded Kane on February 11, 2015, as well as Zach Bogosian and the rights to Jason Kasdorf, to the Buffalo Sabres in exchange for Tyler Myers, Drew Stafford, Joel Armia, Brendan Lemieux, and a conditional first-round pick in the 2015 NHL Entry Draft.[54]. This begs the question: Can the Avs pulls off a trade like this for Ryan O’reilly. History has proven that it could happen

Lastly, there are many website on the internet that think Ryan O’Reilly should be traded. Here is a quote from some of them. "O’Reilly: "I don’t doubt for a moment that the Habs are interested in ROR. There aren’t many teams that wouldn’t want ROR". And also this one: ""There’s no doubt he’s [Ryan O’Reilly] available. Would be really surprised if he isn’t traded before next season." "The one trick thing with him [ROR] is his signability." "You talk about guys that are difficult to sign, you don’t know what their future is. ROR is that guy." "I was talking to one GM, who I think would have interest in him [ROR], he said the biggest thing would be what are chances of me signing him before trading for him" "simply because he’s [ROR] had some pretty big [contract] battles with Colorado." "No doubt he’s [ROR] a really good player. You can move him up & down your lineup can use him as your 1C if you have scoring Ws" "The Avs want defenseman with term & the thing is, if you give up a D with term, you want to know ROR is committing to you." "I think Toronto would definitely be interested [in ROR]. I think there would be 25 teams interested." "It comes down to, can you sign him [ROR] & what is it going to cost you to do it?". See, literally lots of people think O’reilly should be traded and I do too.

In conclusion, As you can see from the paragraphs above, I have proven that throughout history, man has wanted to trade O’Reilly. Webster’s Dictionary defines a trade as "the act of exchanging one thing for another," and this is pertinent to the situation between O’Reilly and the Avalanche. If O’Reilly is to be traded by Sakic, the return could be great. This is important, because this could effect [sic] the team in many ways.
