Training camp is over -- the drills have been skated, the scrimmages have been played, the systems installed. Now is the time when young players are reassigned to their junior teams and the top brass makes the final few decisions on the 2015-16 opening night roster. The Avalanche cut 20 players from the training camp roster today, sending some players back to major junior teams while assigning others to camp with the AHL's San Antonio Rampage.
No surprises here, as many of these players are years away from cracking an NHL lineup (if at all). This list is more important for its omissions rather than its inclusions:
Headed to Major Junior teams:
C JC Beaudin
D Raphael Maheux
RW Nick Magyar
LW Alexis Pepin
Headed to San Antonio Rampage:
LW Troy Bourke
LW Trevor Cheek
D Justin Hamonic
D Hubert Labrie
D Daniel Maggio
C Reid Petryk
LW Michael Schumacher
