The Sunny Side of McNab and Haynes

This year, I have GCL. It has allowed me to choose my commentary and often I choose the away team's, so that I can gain a perspective on how my favourite team is perceived.

This has given me a new-found respect for McNab and Haynes.

Last Year's Team Statistics Compared to This Year

So beyond the amount of points, I wanted to look into how our team has improved in team-wide statistics that aren't total goals for/against, team points, etc. Comparisons after the break.

UFAs to target-Suter and Parise

Pierre McGuire at Sports Illustrated suggested that Ryan Suter and Zach Parise, both UFAs after the season and good friends from their days in the WCHA, might be trying to sign with the same team this summer.

If this is true, lets bring them in! Obviously resigning O'Reilly, Duchene and Johnson should be a priority, but throw in a shutdown Dman and a legit 1st line left winger and you've got a contender in Denver.

Gettin' down witcha bad self. Paying homage to one of my favorite gingers.

With so many players that are set to become free agents, whether it be a UFA or a RFA, one's mind can wonder when speculating on the roster surrounding the usual core players next season. Changes are a certain to come, perhaps a new face or two.

Matt Duchene, Ryan O'Reilly and Erik Johnson are shoe ins for new contract based on age, potential and performance. Milan Hejduk will also play as long as he pleases. But what about the guy who has played the third most games in an Avalanche uniform? (DDC) What about the grinder that makes so many sacrifices?

What about Cody McLeod?

Crosby traded?

Sorry, I'm not trying to lure you here under false pretences. Well, okay, I am, but please read on!

Here's the (fictional) scenario:

Crosby has returned to NHL action after his latest concussion and he has played 20 games, scoring 24 points. BAM! he gets knocked sparko and is stretchered off the ice. He is later diagnosed with "concussion-like symptoms."

Penguins' GM, Ray Shero decides that whilst the Penguins are still winning without Crosby, he needs to take a long term view and Crosby keeps getting concussed. Therefore, enough is enough and Crosby is on the trading block.

Jussi Parkkila

Due to the ongoing discussions about the lack of a full-time goalie coach for the Avs, recently I was looking up various information on Jussi Parkkila, in particular trying to find out the length of his contract with SKA by searching the Russian internets. Here is everything I could find on him over the past couple years.

Stastny's Value (Not what you think, and a little positive mojo about our team and where we are headed)

Honestly just about everywhere from here at MHH to HF-Boards and including periodic chatter from actual NHL insiders has speculated as to Stastny being on the trade block. His value has been discussed over and over as well..

Hopefully what comes next reminds us all how valuable and rare a top flight center can be. Him struggling (in my mind due to lack of a finisher since Stewy left) has everyone hoping they could pry him from our hands at a discount price. It's been going on so long that some of us fans are jumping on the bandwagon of destroying a core of center depth teams dream about.

Most of these stats people are probably fairly aware of.. but I am hoping that this reminds all of us to maybe be a little more patient as thankfully our GM has been.

Poll
Shortly after posting this I decided to add a poll. Who does not like polls? I am also curious to know how many people actually think trading Stastny is a good idea. So "Yes" or "No" as to trading Stastny for a winger.

Truth

It's beyond 3 am, and you know what that means. Weesnaw... time to splewge an avalanche of thoughts about the Avalanche. Fortunately, I'm a liar and alcohol is not influencing this post. Furthermore, PBR is the truth... The jump? What does that even mean? And what happens if I remove it?

Proof that Sacco is a bad coach.

Bear with me here, as there are several definitions and opinions of what "bad" is. To me, a bad coach is one who fails to adapt, to utilize his team's strengths, and too often plays into the opponent's system. Thanks to some quick research from patrit19, we have established that Colorado's record against their division under Sacco is as follows:

1st year: 10-11-3

2nd year: 7-16-1

3rd year: 2-12-1 (so far)

For a total of 19-39-5 (thanks Mike). Abysmal would be insulting to the word abysmal.

Why it means he's a bad coach: Other than the obvious (under .500), this is hard evidence of what many of us fans have speculated for a while now: He fails to adapt. The teams that know the Avs best (their division) have no problem beating them--and it's become worse and worse in each season, as teams become more and more familiar with the Avalanche style of play. Eastern teams? No clue how the Avs play--and the Avs eat them up.

It's time for Sacco to go. Will the Avs get someone better? Who knows. But at least for a while, maybe the division won't know exactly how to handle the Avs.

FINALLY, The Savage Has Returned, With a life altering question

While on my world appreciation tour, of which I was unable to involve MHH due to mostkly my laziness I encountered an existential crisis, which cant be solved by buying a new suit. But it can be solved by buying a new Catching Glove. My newesyt glove is a Larceny L9 which doesnt like gloving pucks all that much and lets alot pop out so I went back to my original, RX9 glove which catches slightly better but still isn't perfect and is pretty worn out after 3 years of solid action. While I "may" be partly to blame for my lack of catching ability I choose to believe a new glove will solve all mine, and subsequently the worlds problems. I'm leaning towards either a Vaughn 9500 Pro, Vaughn 9580 Pro or Reebok P3 Pro. If any goalies out here have a opinion on either of these gloves or any
