With the season slowly approaching, the Colorado Avalanche are one of only six teams that haven't yet announced their captain. The other five teams are the New Jersey Devils, New York Islanders, Philadelphia Flyers, the Buffalo Sabres and the Florida Panthers.

With the start of Rookie Training Camp and the upcoming full team Training Camp, the Avs' announcement could come on any given day. Whoever it is will have immense skates to fill. Adam Foote and Joe Sakic are well-loved and well-respected players and men. They were also with the organization for quite some time. While on a conference call earlier the Avs stressed that a Young Stud could be the next captain, and not to rule it out.

There are two questions that come to mind:

1. Who do you think will be the Avalanche next captain and
   
2. Who would you want to be the next Avalanche captain?!

The one thing about weekends that kind of sucks is that they are ultimately followed up by a Monday. Stupid Monday.

Monday is here again, which means it is time for another Monday Morning Open Thread (in capitals, so you know it is important).

I'll start things off with a quick story. My wife and I went out Saturday night with a bunch of her co-workers to celebrate someone's birthday. Someone brought cupcakes. I thought this was amusing, but decided there wasn't really any elegant way for me to explain why, so I just sat there quietly and took another drink.
