The Colorado Avalanche lost their first overtime game this season to the Vancouver Canucks, who are now 2-0 against the Avs so far.

You know it's a boring game when both team's goalies are among the three stars, and I didn't make it past the second period before fatigue did me in, so I can't write a very long summary.

Jose Theodore played very well again, and were it not for a horrible call in the second period allowing Henrik Sedin's high stick goal, Theo could have gotten the win.  Instead, the Avs' complete lack of offensive ability resulted in just one point instead of two---but they'll take whatever they can get.  

The Avalanche now has sole possession of first place in the Northwest Division, with six important games against division rivals coming before December.

Thanks to the valiant MHH members who stuck around and kept the game thread going after I packed it in.  It was fun reading the comments and catching up on the commentary this morning.  Kudos to all.

The next Avalanche game is Sunday at home against the Wild.  The teams are tied 1-1 in their seasonal eight-game series, and Minnesota trails in the standings by only one point.
