Game 31: Avalanche At Predators, Open Thread

Here's the thread for the Nashville game.  I've been a little busy lately, if you can't already tell.

Not that anyone is watching the game, anyway.

Snore

Halfway through the second period it's still 0-0.

Somebody wake me up when something happens.  Man, I'm glad I didn't pay to see this one.

At least

Budaj is playing well.  Hopefully this could be his "breakout" game.  Made a big save on a breakaway early in the 2nd.

But

For future games, it all depends on coach Q taking notice.

Arnason

I got to watching the game a little late. Is he scratched? Has coach Q finally come to his senses? Leopold is playing limited minutes, but playing them very well. And why is Ryan Smyth all over the place? I think through 2 periods he has almost 20 mins of ice time, at least that's what it seems like.

RE: Arnason

Arnason, Hensick, and Parker are scratched.  Lappy and Leopold back.  Plus the avs are playing 7 d-men

Re: Arnason

That explains the low score.

Cuminsky

He is playing on the wing which has created the stangest scoring chances.  He needs to remember the rest of the team isn't as fast.

Arny

scratched due to some injury, I believe.  Hopefully, it's not life-threatening, but may keep him out of the lineup for a few games so we can see if we're correct about his lack of contribution to the team in a posative manner.

He is playing center and tearing it up.

Avs Win 2-1

Did anybody else watch the whole game?

This was a strange one.  Budaj was solid.  The defense played great.

Game notes

Since nobody watched.......

  1.  Budaj played really good.  The only two iffy spots was the wide open rebound that Stastny wisely hooked (I think it was Bonk) to prevent the score, and when he went down and Arnott totally wiffed on the top shelf.
  1. Leopold (who knew?) actually made a difference.
  1. Do you believe in Karma?  Smyths goal was a total softy.  Mason had no screen or anything but didn't make the routine save.  He "pulled a theo".

RE: Game notes

Stastny hooked legwand.  Not bonk.

On TiVo late last night... I thought it was a pretty good game.

Thank goodness

That ref blew that whistle. That was clearly a Nashville goal, would've given them a 1-0 lead. Oh well Preds, you win some you lose some suckers!!!

RE: Thank goodness

I thought so too.  Forgot that in my game notes post.

The refs lost sight of it and apparently if it goes in afterward it doesn't count.

Remember

the rule reads that the play is dead as soon as the ref THINKS about blowing the whistle.  The interim from brain to whistle is dead puck time.  No goals can be scored.
