Game 22: Flames At Avalanche, Preview And Open Thread

Since this is the fifth meeting between Colorado and Calgary this season (it's still November!), there's not all that much to say.
The one thing of note is that the Avs started a four-game road trip in first place in the Northwest, lost three of those games but somehow managed to return home to the Pepsi Center (where they are 9-1-0) still in first place---if just barely.
The Flame-Outs beat Colorado for the first time this season on Tuesday, but have lost two of their last three and continue to suffer in fourth place in the Northwest, albeit just four points behind the Avs.
Also, they suck.
The game starts today at 5:00 PM Mountain time, 7:00 Eastern. I will not be around because I got suckered into attending a play (of all things) and it starts at about the same time as the game. I highly encourage everyone to keep the thread going in my absence.
One Important Note: when ridiculing Dion Phaneuf for being the lousy person that he is, please avoid calling him "Phageuf." I have a very low tolerance for homophobia. You'll notice I don't use the far-too-easy "Flamers" to belittle his team, and instead use the accurately descriptive, yet sexual orientation-neutral, "Flame-Outs." I highly suggest using other variations on Phaneuf's name, like "Phaloofa" or the extremely appropriate "Phadouche." That's my personal favorite. I appreciate your cooperation and wish everyone a happy open thread.
ESPN preview.

HD net
The game is on HD net tonight.. for those that get the channel
Warm ups
Showing a clip of a little verbal scuffle in warm ups with parker and Phageuf and then both teams piling in. wonder if parker will be in the lineup tonight
Looks like Parker and Theo
are in tonight. Way to reward Budaj with a good game in Edmonton. He gets to open the bench door tonight...
2 and a half in
and Parker gets his mandatory 2 minutes for stupidity penalty. Bonus shot of Coach Q's trainwreck of a tie...
yep
sure, the game might get physical, but I'd still prefer to see McCormick in than Parker. At least he's not so penalty prone.

another first goal
given up by the Avs. If anything is the story of this season so far, it's that they are continually playing from behind.
whoops
sorry. it was Langkow (sp?), not Iginla

Bad Clear =
giveaway and a goal for Calgary.
This is not looking good. The majority of the play is in the Avs end and they can't even consistently gain the redline, much less get any shots on goal.
2nd Period
better start off well for Colorado or this will be a LONG night. I may have to bail to go watch part of the Kansas-Mizzou game if the Avs don't show me something in the second. Of course, what I'd like to see is Boots in net, and McCormick instead of Parker, but I guess Coach Q. doesn't read my emails anymore....
theodore
Why on gods green earth would Q play theo? who won the last game? i truely don't understand Qs torture system when it comes too goaltenders.
ps: send theodore down (hes not helping this team) i don't care how much hes being payed.

4th goal
was off of Theo's glove and in. SOFTTTTTTTTTTTTTTT. Especially considering the way this game has gone. Changing up the netminder might be the only thing to generate some energy. But Theo finishes the period....
4-0 Calgary
As the Avalanche try to see how many opportunities they can give away on one possession.
I can't watch this crap anymore. This team isn't a dominant, playoff-caliber team. They're coasting through this stretch of the season and it makes me want to wretch.
I'm out. Battlestar Galactica is on later. If I wanna watch a human tragedy, I'll watch that.
Thanks for everybody who kept with it this long.
Peace.
OK
Looking back on the last 8 games theo has 3 loses and budaj went 3 and 2 is there a system Q is trying to cram into a square hole here? this team can't get into a rythum or behind a goalie i really think the team has not faith in theo and three straight losses shows it. (we play like crap when theo is in net)

it's official
i'm jumping on the "fire q" bandwagon. I don't see any other explination for how a team with this much talent can play this badly.
