Quenneville Fired!
The RMN and DP are reporting that Joel Quenneville has been fired by the Colorado Avalanche. Francois Giguere noted Quenneville's valuable contributions to the team in his prior tenure as an assistant coach and the last few seasons as head coach. He also acknowledged that while injuries played a role in the team's struggles this season, the inconsistency exhibited when the lineup was healthy, coupled with the feelings that Quenneville's message wasn't getting through to many of the veteran players, led to the decision to go in another direction as the team is trying to sew up a playoff birth after having missed the post-season last year.
"At the end of the day, we felt that he had lost the room," Giguere noted.
When asked about the impact on the club's chances of winning the Stanley Cup this season, he said,
"As an organization committed to winning, we have to do everything to reach that end."
He then dropped another bombshell that nobody expected:
"We felt that a fresh outlook on the team and a another familiar face added to the team's makeup to complement Peter Forsberg and Adam Foote would go a long way to insuring that very outcome. With that, I'd like to introduce the new head coach of the Colorado Avalanche..."

That's Low...
Hey, what's up with using actual quotes in a joke article?
by PuckPhace on Apr 1, 2008 9:38 AM MDT reply actions
Not the Onion
It was actually Simplicissimus, a German publication from 1896-1964. It's like the Onion, only much smarter and funnier, but the Onion is certainly the best satire in English.
What?
I totally made that up off the cuff. I repeat, No real quotes were used in the making of this hilarious post.
I think I'm giving up on the Internet today
Time to focus on my real job today, I can't believe anything on the Internet today.
Because
You can totally believe everything you read on the internet every other day.

Good one...
I was expecting something like this, but my heart still skipped a beat when I read it. haha.
Related note
At work they have "maternity" parking spots, and My wife and I work in the same place. I was going to park in the spot this morning to fool some co-workers but we forgot to do it.
Besides I don't think enough people know are car anyways

Re: Hey!
True story: I'm a huge Schwarzenegger fan and own most of his movies (including Kindergarten Cop).
Oh
And seriously, maternity parking spots?
You really do live in California, don't you?
Here in Kentucky we call the maternity spots "the kitchen."
Yes!
Yes we have Maternity Parking spots, just one right next to the handicapped ones.
It has the image of a stork holding a baby and is outlined in Orange. The first day I saw it I asked my wife
"What the fuck is that?"
"I think it's a maternity spot"
"Are you serious?"
In all fairness to CA, this is the only place I have seen it...so far

Up here..
we have spots reserved for "expecting parents".
So my question is...if the husband is out by himself, can he still use those spots?
"My wife is expecting and needs some formula..stat!"

Re: Up here...
Yeah, how do you police those spots? Handicap drivers get tags for their cars. Do pregnant women? How is a cop supposed to know if the woman is actually pregnant? How do you enforce that?
And why don't they have those spots in my city so I can park in them all the time?
Seriously?
Simplicissimus? Come on, that part's made up, right? "A German publication from 1896-1964"?? Were the original issues hand-written on parchment and delivered by mule?
Maternity parking spaces and love for Arnold is great, but Simplicissimus is the best! My next WoW character will be a human Priest, and I will call him Simplicissimus.
(And since you know you were gonna Google this anyway, I already did it for you:

Selanne, you made my day.

Hook, Line and Sinker
Yep, you got me good Joe ha!
Maternity spot? Since when are pregnant women unable to walk? Geez.
Phadouche
You think someone called him and told him he won a free car this morning... All he had to to was go to Starbucks and it would be running for him in the parking lot?
