Game 14: Flames At Avalanche, Preview And Open Thread

Tonight the Colorado Avalanche face the Calgary Flames for the third time this season.  Colorado won the previous two meetings, both in come-from-behind last-minute overtime victories that will no doubt inspire the Flame-Outs to play a little harder this time.  Or hopefully it has destroyed their confidence and they will continue to play like garbage.

The Avs will look to regain the momentum lost on Saturday when they were defeated by the visiting Vancouver Canucks, ending both a 6-0 home streak and a overall four-game winning streak.

In lineup news, Jose Theodore will get the start against the Flame-Outs, and this article suggests that another strong performance will result in him becoming the official Avalanche starting goalie.

Concerning offensive lines, Coach Q reportedly wants to reunite Ryan Smyth with his early-season buddies Paul Stastny and Milan Hejduk on the second line with Wojtek Wolski moving up to first with Joe Sakic and Marek Svatos.  Jaroslav Hlinka, who is apparently deep in Coach Q's infamous doghouse, might actually be a scratch tonight.  No word on who would take his spot, but I just can't believe that Scott Parker would be more valuable to have on the ice than Hlinka.  Then again, somebody's got to be around to help Lappy beat the crap out of Dion Phaneuf, pictured below:

The game starts at 7 PM Mountain time, 9 PM Eastern.  I'll be around with my clever and insightful real-time commentary for anyone who wants to join in.  We had a nice crowd last game, so don't be afraid to contribute.

Oh yeah, and I almost forgot: tonight's game probably would be bad for the Avalanche to lose.
