The Peter Forsberg Comeback Tour Bus has suffered some sever engine troubles. Forsberg had recently joined the Swedish national team to take part in something called the Karjala Cup - an international tournament. The stint was supposed to be a warmup for Forsberg and was expected to show that his ankle was recovered and ready for some hot NHL action again.
Sadly, Foppa left practice after an hour today and called today a "very dark day". He added, ''I'm not going to play if it's not working. I might as well retire.'' While he's going to consult with doctors again, this latest setback seems almost catastrophic.
While I would love to see Forsberg wear the #21 again for Colorado (even though the new jerseys suck), I'm more bummed to see the league without this great player. Forsberg has always been one of the most exciting players in the NHL to watch, regardless of which team he played for. It would be a real shame to see his career cut short.
Especially before he got a chance to hoist that Karjala Cup...
