Things are going pretty well for the Avalanche lately, having won four games straight and coming off of a superb performance by starting goalie Peter Budaj. But it could get ugly again, since the Avs face the undefeated-in-regulation Buffalo Sabres tonight at the Pepsi Center.
Sabres goalie Ryan Miller has been unbeatable so far this season, having won all five of his starts so far. He's also got a GAA of 1.74 and save percentage of .935. Those are some nice numbers.
Unfortunately for him, he'll have to face the Colorado offense, which is tied with San Jose for the league lead in goals scored with 28 (and with one less game-played than the Sharks). The Sabres offense has been almost as potent, however. They have 26 goals scored in 7 games, led by Thomas Vanek and his league-best 8.
No doubt a tough game tonight for the Avalanche. Peter Budaj will have to be at his very best, and he'll need all the help he can get from the improving Colorado defense. Should be a good one.
