Well look who we have here. If it isn't the Flame-Outs, fresh off a most impressive 3-0 shutout loss to the Columbus Blue Jackets, who don't have a healthy starting goalie, or a veteran captain, or much of an offense other than Rick Nash.
Nice work. I suppose Dion Phadouche (0g, 0a, - 3) wasn't properly fueled for the game.
The bad news is that Colorado hasn't been all that hot lately, either. A frustrating loss to New Jersey and an unforgivable choke job against the Wild mean the Avs are treading water when they should be backstroking into the upper seeds of the playoffs. Peter Forsberg is being over-played (and trying to over-play), the power play is causing a kitten holocaust, and the defense periodically takes a night off here and there.
UPDATE: Not that Forsberg matters anymore, since he's out again. Honestly, is anyone surprised by this? The only shock is that his groin is sore instead of his ankle.
It's time to separate the men from the not-men. The Avalanche need to rise above their injuries, the bad coaching, and all the other problems they've succumbed to this season and make a statement that the glory days in Denver aren't just a fading memory, they're now. It's time to Commit To The Yeti and get shit done.
And since I'm impersonating Vince Lombardi, I'll end with a quote by him:
If you believe in yourself and have the courage, the determination, the dedication, the competitive drive and if you are willing to sacrifice the little things in life and pay the price for the things that are worthwhile, it can be done.
Quit screwing around, boys. Do it.
The game starts at 7:00 PM Mountain time, 9:00 PM Eastern. I think by now that you all realize that your duty as fans of the Colorado Avalanche is to be present and contributing to this thread during the game. Do it for the kittens.
