Our favorite (possibly drunken, depressed) Avs beat writer is at it again with this gem:
I'm not naive enough to believe that a professional athlete will get any extra desire to perform in the post-season due to something an obviously biased and opinionated sportswriter says about him on the Intrawebs. I am a firm believer in not writing a check your @$$ can't cash. Is it a good idea for Dater to be picking a fight with the Boogyman? Comments like
"He’s slow, not skilled..."
and
"the has-beens like ... Boogy the Goon..."
may result in Dater getting his face bashed in during a locker room interview. Couldn't the same descriptors be applied to a certain Anthrax-frontman look-a-like on the Avs' roster? Would Dater call Parker a has-been to his face? Methinks not.
I also find it hard to believe that a guy with "Adrian" as a first name is calling out a guy like Marian Gaborik with:
The guy with the girl’s first name but a drowned rat’s face and hair...
I have what many Americans would consider a girl's name, but you don't see me calling out anybody else because of it. Perhaps Dater has some childhood teasing issues he's trying to work out, along with his possible alcoholism and maybe the recent death of his dog? Just a theory. My other theory is that Dater doesn't have anything new to bring to the table regarding this playoff matchup, and like many a reporter, mailed in a puff piece that has little-to-no-insight or bearing on the theater or players in the upcoming drama.
