I'm not always a big fan of the way the NHL runs things, but one thing I do like is the excellent array of stats the league offers up on it's website. It looks like they've added career and single season leaders, and those can be filtered by team (did you know Marek Svatos is 9th on the Avalanche all-time goal-scoring list?)
Also, to their plethora of online game reports, they've added a new one - the shot summary. This one breaks down, by player and by team, shots taken in a game. For the first time, we'll be able to see how many of John-Michael Liles' shots come on the PP and how many of Joe Sakic's shots come in the 3rd period. I'm not as interested in the latter, but I'm very interested to see who is shooting at EV, PP and SH. It still doesn't quite make up for ditching the shift charts, but since I'll be generating my own this year, I'll happily take this new report.
