This isn't much of a recap, as I didn't watch the game. The Avs started out quickly, jumping to a 2-0 lead on goals by Ryan Smyth (PP) and Darcy Tucker. Then, in true Avalanche fashion, the team seemed to punch out - the Kings outshot the Avs 34-12 in the final 2 1/4 periods.
Paul Stastny led Avalanche forwards in ice time, so it seems as his shoulder injury isn't much of a factor. And Brett Clark played 24:05 - welcome back! At one point, Darcy Tucker limped off with an injury, but he returned quickly and didn't miss a shift. However, Milan Hejduk did not play the last 7 minutes or so of the game, and did not participate in the shutout. Rutrow Raggie?
And, as an added treat to all you 3rd jersey fans, I've got shift charts up for both teams. Be aware that these are a really crude report - I was literally finishing up some of the code last night as I was listening to the game. So, yes, I know it looks kind of ugly right now.
Note that this was the 19th NHL preseason game, which has to be some sort of positive omen. Right?
