Game 46: Flames at Avalanche, Preview And Open Thread

This isn't much of a preview, this being the weekend and stuff. The Avalanche host the red-hot Calgary Flames tonight, and the Avs' chances don't seem promising. The good news? While the Avalanche seem to excel at finding ways to lose games against so-so opponents, they've often stepped up against the better NHL clubs. The bad news? The "often" part of that previous sentence doesn't apply to the Flames; the Avs are 0-4 against Calgary and have been shutout twice. Zoinks.

I will say this: a LOT of Avalanche forwards had a very strong game against Edmonton on Thursday. I'm not guaranteeing it, but it wouldn't shock me to see the Avs put up a bunch of goals tonight.

Peter Budaj is back in net facing Miikka Kiprusoff. And hey, maybe if the Flames win they'll trade Kipper tomorrow like the Oilers did with Mathieu Garon.
