Welcome back. I hope everyone had a nice Christmas (or whatever yesterday was in your household). I had a terrific day myself, and we're having family over today for Christmas II: Electric Boogaloo. And, as an added bonus, hockey is back!

The Avalanche host the Dallas Stars tonight, the first time this year that the teams have faced each other. Surprisingly, the Avs were 2-0-2 against Dallas last year.

Many of the names on the Stars are familiar to us: Turco, Modano, Richards, Morrow, Lehtinen. They even have Karlis Skrastins on defense. But Dallas also has a couple of youngsters that have become key contributors to the club in Loui Eriksson and James Neal. Those two are 2nd and 3rd on the team in scoring with 35 and 32 points respectively and Eriksson is on an 8-game point streak. Dallas has Trever Daley and Mark Fistric out on IR. Turco is questionable (flu) as is Slayer fan Jere Lehtinen, who has missed the last two games with a groin injury. If Turco doesn't go, Alex Auld will be his replacement and he's played well this year.

It's Adam Deadmarsh night tonight at the Pepsi Center. No word yet from the Avs (or Dater),  but I'd guess Craig Anderson will be between the pipes. The Avs had 3 days off after that brutal loss to Anaheim and after tonight they'll have another 3-day break. They'll need a better effort than they got on Tuesday; perhaps the rest will have helped?

Enjoy your Boxing Day, everyone!
