Here's what you need to know: if the Avalanche lose in regulation tonight and the Blues win against Edmonton, your Colorado Avalanche will be in last place in the Western Conference. Oof. That's not exactly how this 8-game home stand was supposed to play out.
The game features two rather porous teams - the Avs are 25th in goals against average and the Stars are even worse at 27th. One of the two teams is able to take advantage of that. And no, it's not Colorado; Dallas is ranked 11th in offense while the Avs...21st.
Both teams stink on the powerplay and the penalty kill, so I have no idea what will happen if a penalty is called. Perhaps each side will spare us the two minutes of agony and just do rock, paper, scissors to decide the PP outcome.
