On the road again
Like a band of gypsies we go down the highway
We're the best of friends
Insisting that the world be turnin' our way

- Willie Nelson

The whole "extended home stand" thing didn't work out so well (*cough* 3-5 *cough*) for the Colorado Avalanche, so now we move to Plan B: winning on the road. 18 of the final 30 games are on the road, starting tonight in St Louie. The Blues have given the Avs fits in recent years, but one major source of angst is now gone; Manny Legace has been waived by the Blues.

For whatever reason, I feel really good about this game. The Avs can vault into a tie for 10th with a win this evening, but would need losses by Los Angeles (at New Jersey), Phoenix (hosting Carolina) and Columbus (hosting San Jose) to do so. Even if all of the cards don't fall into place, the Avs would have 53 points after a win...just 2 points out of a playoff spot.
