For most of the day, I've been doing some light reading on the Avs' Cup runs for some future articles. Now I've got to change gears from the glory days to the dark days so that I can write this recap. Yuck.
The Avalanche played an awful game against a good-but-not-great Edmonton Oilers team. Now they have to throw their weak-ass shit at a much better team - the San Jose Sharks. Yeah, that should work.
But, wait! Is that the calvary I hear? Uh, well, no...it's just Ruslan Salei. Salei will return to the lineup tonight after missing three games with a foot injury. It's nice to have him back...but that's probably not going to be enough. None of the other injured players - Stastny, Tucker, Tjarmin, Foote - made the trip to San Jose (the Avalanche return to Denver for their next game on Wednesday).
Peter Budaj gets a merciful reprieve after enduring Thursday's game. Andrew Raycroft gets the start, with Brian Boucher the expected starter for San Jose.
I sure hope that I get the San Jose feed tonight, so that I can hear them talk more about The Minister of Defense!
