Jordan Leopold is on his way back to Calgary. The Avalanche have traded Leopold to the Flames. Coming back to Colorado:
- Ryan Wilson
- Montreal's 2nd round pick (ironically, acquired by the Flames in the Tanguay deal)
- Lawrence Nycholat
Nycholat seems like a warm body, as he was just acquired on waivers yesterday. Nycholat is a Calgary native who will be joining his 3rd NW team in 3 days.
Wilson is a free agent signing for the Flames last summer. He's described as an offensive defensemen, although I know nothing of his pedigree. [UPDATE: Here is a 3 1/2 year old profile on him from HF]. For the Quad City Flames this year, Wilson has 20 points (4 goals, 16 assists) in 60 games.
It seems like a 2nd round pick for Leopold is the key here and sounds about right, with the Avs getting a couple of other potentially useful players in the deal as well. We were using the Brad Stuart deal last year (a 2nd and a 4th) as a barometer, and it looks like that was pretty close.
