You may have recently seen the news that Abbotsford, British Columbia has been awarded an AHL franchise. Abbotsford will be the AHL affilate for the Calgary Flames.
The fine folks behind the new franchise are accepting suggestions for team names. The top 5 suggestions are Jets, Wings, Thunder, Pilots or Aviators. I'm going to go out on a limb and guess that there's some aviation history in the city?
Anyway, those names are nice, but the need something with a little more pizzazz. Something that not only incorporates Abbotsford's history but also mentions one of the city's favorite sons.
