I'm a little short on time this AM, and I'd really like to pretend the last game didn't happen, so I'm going to cut right to the chase on this one. Someone needs to ask the Avalanche to show up for this one at the beginning of the game, not somewhere in the 2nd period. The Avs have been outshot 46-21 in opening frame of the last 4 games. More importantly, they've been outscored 4-nil.
Despite Thursday's loss that didn't happen, the Avalanche are still just two points behind the Canucks in the NW Division race, thanks to Vancouver getting pounded 6-3 by the 'Hawks last night. Vancouver is idle tonight, but plays again on Sunday against Nashville. With the Preds just 3 points behind us in the standings, that's a game that's going to hurt us either way (or worse, if its 3-point game). The Avs need a win tonight.
The good news? The Avs have outscored the Blues by a 9-2 margin. The bad news? The Blues are on a 5-game winning streak, including wins against Phoenix and Detroit - two teams that beat us recently. Allegedly.
I think Mike has the recap tonight. If not, it will be me. Go Avs!
