Daily Cupcakes: January 1st, 2011

Well, here are my First Cupcakes on the new year. I would have loved to have some better cupcakes to celebrate... but alas the boys didn't want to cooperate. I mean, Daniel Winnik tried, but it just wasn't enough. So here we go.

You know who didn't have a good night? John Grahame. Why you may ask? It's being reported that he was arrested last night while trying to go back to Cleavland after a hockey game in Hamilton, Canada.

The warrant check showed the 35-year-old Grahame had a felony warrant issued by police in Las Vegas for fraud pending against him. Border Protection officers then took Grahame into custody.

But the newest news about it is :

"John Grahame resolved a personal matter and is on his way back to Cleveland, and he will be available to play for Lake Erie on Saturday.''

A recap from last night.

The Avalanche broke Miikka Kiprusoff's shutout bid at 7:05 of the third period. The Flames lost a faceoff in the Colorado zone, and Daniel Winnik wheeled in all alone. Mark Giordano dragged him down, but the Colorado penalty killer still squeaked the puck five-hole to give his team life.

An article about the Winter Classic

Assuming that the Winter Classic 2011 will get in tonight, the rink conditions, and the darkness, will be under question. Even if the rink holds up under the weather, goaltenders will have to see the black puck coming at them, under the black of night.

I hope you had a safe new years eve, and that 2011 brings with it hope, happiness and all that fun stuff!
