David Jones is getting some love and I found out some things about David in this read.

For a player with such a common moniker, Colorado Avalanche forward David Jones is sure making a name for himself.

Jones has two overtime winners this month, becoming the first Avs player to accomplish that feat since Peter Forsberg more than a decade ago.

His dad also is David Jones, along with his grandfather, making him David Jones III, actually.

Predator / Avalanche preview

The Avalanche try to win three straight for the first time in more than a month Thursday night when they face the Nashville Predators, who are making a run at first place in their division.

Small article about the Ryan Stoa / T.J. Galiardi switch within the organization.

A disappointing cut in training camp, Stoa has once again been one of the Monster's top scorers, with 15 goals in 44 games.

The shootouts are becoming less frequent...

According to USA TODAY research, about 47% of overtime games have reached shootout. That's down from 61% last season, which was a record high.

This was made for fantasy hockey... but I found it an interesting read. It looks into how the special teams affect goalies numbers.  (Yes, Colorado is in the chart they describe- in third place.)

The teams with the top six figures -- whose goalies suffer the biggest relative hit to their goals-against average thanks to malfeasance by the team in front of them -- are found in the chart below.
