Daily Cupcakes: January 21st, 2011

The game just ended and I don't feel jovial... and I can't find many happy cupcakes. There might be more in the morning... maybe?

News about Tomas Fleischmann is slowly breaking

"The indications from our doctor is yeah, he'll live a quote-unquote normal life," Sherman said. "This is something that can be treated through medication. That's what I'm told."

This isn't the first time he has had blood clots either... (there is the news article about this in the Fleischmann injury post- this is the Wikipedia entry.)

In returning to the Czech Republic in the off-season it was later discovered that Fleischmann had contracted a blood clot in his leg due to Deep vein thrombosis from the cross-Atlantic flight and would miss the pre-season and the start of the 2009–10 season.

An article praising the Avalanche for drafting Chris Stewart

An offensive force, NHL defenders have had difficulty shutting the big power forward down. With a recent dedication to physical fitness and nutrition, Stewart is primed for a long and prosperous career in the NHL.

An article about Teemu Selanne

Though he never lost his scorer's instinct, his knee was so bad he struggled to get to openings, scoring just 16 goals for the 2003-04 Colorado Avalanche and none in 10 playoff games.

A recap about the game

The call on the ice was upheld, upsetting Colorado coach Joe Sacco, who briefly chatted with the officials before waving his arms in disgust.
