The Avalanche beat the Buffalo Sabres last night in OT, NHL.com has a recap of the action.

Colorado had failed to score on its previous five power plays in the game and on 14 consecutive man advantages covering seven games.

I'm just hoping that this gets the ball rolling!

Another recap, this one from the Wall Street Journal

Winnik staked the Avalanche to a 1-0 lead late in the first period by beating Miller with a wrist shot on a breakaway. T.J. Galiardi set up the goal after flipping the puck up ice to an awaiting Winnik.

I know, I'm somewhat biased towards Daniel Winnik, but that was an awesome pass by Galiardi.

This may hurt some Americans, but Tyson Barrie, a Colorado Avalanche prospect, talks about his experience thus far at the World Juniors tournament via the Montreal Gazette.

"I've never experienced anything like this for support. It's almost like this tournament is actually being held in Canada. I know we're in the United States, but tonight it felt as if our fans completely took over the building and that 99 per cent of the crowd was rooting for us."

An article about a Lake Erie Monster, Justin Mercier.

"I went to five different high schools," Mercier said. "Moving around so much helped me mature, and learn time and money management. Moving around was a huge benefit for me. I really learned to live on my own before I had to."
