Game 8 Preview: Colorado Avalanche @ Chicago Blackhawks

Game 8 preview
Game 8 preview

The Avalanche are in Chi Town tonight, finishing up the second half of their home-and-home series against the Blackhawks. The first game didn't go so well for the Burgundy and Blue, losing 3-1 due to a questionable effort through most of the game. Given the fact the team has been rockin' the road games, however, there's a bit more to be optimistic about today. Also don't forget that our boys still boast the league's top power play at 29.2% and fourth best penalty kill at 91.3%. The Hawks are at 12.5% and 94.1% respectively. Finally, the centers are looking good in the face off circle, coming in at a team average of 54.9% and led by Ryan O'Reilly with 60.8%.

The usual characters should be out there for the Avs although Adrian Dater suggested that Matt Hunwick might crack the line up. Ummmm, okay? Peter Mueller, of course, won't be skating. Semyon Varlamov is starting in net.

Oh, by the way, you might want to wait to tune in for about half hour or so - unless you want to watch yet another ceremony. Marc Moser is reporting that the game won't start until 6:42 MT due to the unveiling of the Hull and Mikita statues.

One more thing: tonight's recap will be brought to you by guest writer, chiavsfan. Chia Pet is going to try to snag some time in the locker room for us, so we might be in for behind the scenes chatter.
