Five Burning Questions

As you all know, I'm a simple fella. But I can't help but have a few questions about the Avalanche.

1. How is Gabriel Landeskog doing in the Calder Trophy race?

After a hot start, Landy has slipped to 7th in rookie scoring, 10 points behind leader Ryan Nugent-Hopkins so he has a little ground to make up. He does have one honor under his belt though. He's currently the only player to wear #92 exclusively in the NHL. 8 others have worn #92, but all wore at least one other number in their career at some point. Surely, there's a trophy for that, right?

2. When will the Matt Duchene extension happening?

This should be a relatively easy task. The market value for your best player has been established. Any deal can probably be squeezed under the salary cap (sarcasm meter overload). Fans would probably love to see a little gesture towards future stability. So, what are we waiting for? We're going to start to get nervous soon, Mr Sherman.

3. If Peter Mueller would return to the lineup today, who would lose a roster spot?

My money would be on Joaqim Lindstrom, a European import who scored 2 points in his first game but has struggled to contribute much in any area since. He reminds me a lot of Jaroslav Hlinka, a European import who scored 2 points in his first game but struggled to contribute after.

4. I wonder what Tyler Arnason is up to now?

Arnason started the season with the AHL's Texas Stars but was released on October 29th (obligatory reaction shot). I can't help but pull for Arny, but you can't help but wonder if that was his final stop.

5. Is there any reason that so many broadcasters can't pronounce "Galiardi"?

Seriously. I can understand Peter McNab struggling with Landeskog. I can understand folks getting O'Byrne and O'Brien mixed up. But what is hard about Galiardi? It gets butchered on a regular basis. Gallardy. Galiundi. Giradelli. I just don't get it.
