The Avs week wasn't what Avs fans were expecting

When the city of Denver is overcrowded with citizens in neck braces tomorrow, don’t worry—it’s just Colorado Avalanche fans trying to recover from whiplash.

For the seven Avalanche fans who weren’t comatose after taking all of this in, the biggest bombshell of all was announced in the wee hours of Saturday morning: The club had acquired former No. 1 overall pick Erik Johnson, and in exchange traded away two of the most promising young players on the roster—forward Chris Stewart and defenseman Kevin Shattenkirk.

Brian Elliott wasn't expecting the trade

"Initial reaction was obviously shocked. You never really think you’re going to get traded. With things going on here in Ottawa obviously there’s going to be some changes," said Elliott. "I’m definitely excited for the challenge, and change can bring excitement and a different attitude to a season that hasn’t gone the way we thought it would [in Ottawa]."

Well, Dater doesn't think Stastny is untouchable- remember folks, he isn't sayin git's going to happen just rumours

Stastny in the list of possible "touchables."
Rumors – yup, I’ve heard a few. I have no real confidence in this one, but I’ve heard this one going around the water cooler. Ready?
Stastny, TJ Galiardi and maybe a pick/another player to Los Angeles for Jack Johnson, Jonathan Bernier and Jarret Stoll.

[DDC here] Thought I'd also add this one, since there aren't enough wild theories about Craig Anderson. Dater says that Anderson turned down an extension last summer.

According to NHL sources, Anderson — traded by Colorado to Ottawa for goalie Brian Elliott — was offered a two-year, $7.5 million contract extension during the offseason.
