The Colorado Avalanche are contractually obligated to play the final 20 games of the season, and we feel compelled to do a preview and recap for each and every one of them. Don't expect a huge amount of effort from either...
Belated kudos, though, to John-Michael Liles. I completely missed that Johnny Hot Pocket scored two points yesterday to give him 41 points on the season - the first Avalanche defender to score 40 in 4 seasons. To all those who voted for Liles, you win a home version of this blog. Congratulations. To those who voted for Kevin Shattenkirk or Colby Cohen...suckers! And the Cumiskey and Quincey voters? You missed it by that much.
Liles, by the way, was taken in the 5th round of the 2000 draft. At 270 points, he's currently the 10th-highest scorer from his class, and the #2 defenseman behind Ducks defenseman Lubomir Visnovsky. #1 overall that year? Rick DiPietro. Hey, maybe the Avs could grab him in a trade?
