Daily Cupcakes: February 9th, 2011

A while ago we did the whole "No GDT pic until the guys win" thing, I'm going to try that with the Cupcakes today.

Here's a preview for the game:

The Avalanche (25-22-6) have been blanked in consecutive games for the first time since April 11-12, 2009, suffering 3-0 defeats to Anaheim on Saturday and Phoenix on Monday. Those games pushed their losing streak to four, and they've dropped six of seven as they struggle to keep pace in the West race.

What's a sign that the players believe that the Wing- Avalanche rivalry is dead? Nothing but good vibes and well wishes from the Detroit dressing room to Peter Forsberg.

A member of the Colorado Avalanche drawing encouragement from within the confines of the Detroit Red Wings dressing room?

Sportsnet is doing a check into the NW Division:

Twenty games into the season, the Colorado Avalanche were fighting with Vancouver for top spot in the Northwest but a free-fall lately has seen the Avs drop five points out of the top eight. The Avs can score with the best of them (3 GPG, good enough for fifth in the league) but remember what I said about goaltending? Joe Sacco can’t get a save from his goalies right now and that’s evident in Colorado’s GAA (last in the league) and PK percentage (27th in the league). Perhaps the return of Peter Forsberg will help, but the last I checked, he doesn’t play defence.

I don't care if it's a pretty win or not, but can the Avalanche please win tonight?  Please?!
