Avalanche Sign D Tyson Barrie

Give you two guesses as to which is the Avs prospect. Hint: It's the little one. Again.

Not content with their signings of all their other top prospects, Capgeek is reporting the Colorado Avalanche have agreed to terms with D Tyson Barrie. Barrie, a third round draft choice (64th overall) in the 2009 NHL Entry Draft, currently plays for and captains the Western Hockey League's Kelowna Rockets and was recently named to the WHL's West All-Star First Team. Barrie's excellent season also culminated in his nomination as the Western Conference's nominee for WHL Defenceman of the Year (the Eastern Conference nominee is none other than fellow Avalanche prospect Stefan Elliot). Barrie's signing means the team's top 4 prospects are all now signed.

Again, no other confirmation seems to be available outside of capgeek's tweet and contract numbers on their website.

Preliminary contract numbers as of now.

Unlike Pickard (I'm still smashing my face on the desk from yesterday), Barrie is expected to spend next season in Lake Erie.

Update: Official site confirmation.
