If they do as well as 2009, the Avalanche will be a force to reckon with in no time at all...

Here's a running tally on what's going on at the Avs' table in Minnesota.  (Putting this up early because of the first big mistake news.)

UPDATE: To keep comments all in one spot, I'm combining the open thread and this post. I will have my laptop at the bar, so you'll be getting some fun comments, I'm sure. Just be forewarned that they will all be under my username, so don't think all the craziness is from me...or my alter egos.

11th Pick:

With the 11th, the Avalanche take Ducan Siemens.

2nd Pick:

With the 2nd pick, the Avalanche take Gabriel Landeskog.

Contracts:

Avalanche have reportedly re-signed Matt Hunwick to a 1 year, $1.55 million deal (same contract as last year)

Per TSN

John-Micheal Liles is heading to Toronto.

The Avalanche sent the defenceman to the Maple Leafs in exchange for Toronto's second round draft pick in 2012.
That draft pick was acquired when the Leafs dealt Tomas Kaberle to the Bruins last year.

Liles has been with the Avs for all seven of his seasons in the NHL.
Last year, he posted six goals and 40 assists in 76 games.

The 30-year-old has 68 goals and 207 assists in 523 career games.

Liles has one year remaining on his contract at $4.5 million, with a cap hit at $4.2 million
