Since Avs news are getting kinda thin, and we are using the Cupcakes as an open thread, I thought I'd start out today with some facts about some tidbits. (Using the Media Guide)
Before the start of the 2010- 2011 season, the Quebec Nordiques/ Colorado Avalanche franchise went 473-259-106-30 for a .623 percentage.
Milan Hejduk has represented his country on eight different occasions, including three times at the Olympics and is the proud, I assume he's proud of it, owner of an Olympic Gold medal.
David Jones is the lowes draftee in the Avs/Nords franchise (drafted by them) to make it into the NHL. He was picked 288th. For those keeping track, Brandon Yip was picked 239th.
Kevin Porter was the captain of Team USA at the 2006 IIHF World Junior Championship, USA finished in fourth place at the event.
Although Kyle Quincey doesn't use it often, he has a hard shot. He played in the OHL All-Star Game in 2005 and tied for the Hardest Shot winner with a rocket at 95 mph.
Daniel Winnik, like a lot of professional athletes, has a superstition. He must put on his left skate first. If you want to know more about some hockey superstitions, check out Cheryl's column here and an old Cupcakes linked to this article.
Happy Friday everyone.
