I found this to be an interesting concept.

Leeb, a former member of the Toronto Maple Leafs and the Vancouver Canucks, is betting gamblers will find value in those educated guesses. He has invested thousands in his website, betonhockey.com, with the hope it becomes a destination for sports bettors seeking handicapping for professional hockey games.

The site does not accept bets, but it does provide links to several sports books. Leeb and former NHL goaltender Jimmy Waite are among those providing counsel, and breaking down matchups.

John-Michael Liles is making an impression in Toronto.

The 30-year-old defenceman, acquired from the Colorado Avalanche in June, made his initial public appearance in Toronto on Tuesday afternoon, chatting with patients at the Hospital for Sick Children and signing autographs for the young Leafs fans.

"It’s fantastic," Liles said of his meet-and-greet with the kids. "I tried to be as much a part of the community (in Denver) as possible, and to come here, and to be my first appearance, it’s definitely a special feeling."

Another charity golf tournament is happening.

Thanks to the brothers’ passion and round-the-clock dedication, around 2,000 people will be in attendance at several events this week, including a gala dinner Friday night (July 22) and a golf tournament Saturday.

Among the dozens of celebrities scheduled to attend include current NHLers Ryan O’Byrne of Victoria (Colorado Avalanche ), Central Saanich’s Jamie Benn (Dallas Stars ), Vancouver Canucks centre Manny Malhotra , L.A. Kings defenceman Willie Mitchell, and Ron MacLean , co-host of CBC’s Hockey Night in Canada .
