Daily Cupcakes- Get to know the Staff!- Cheryl Bradley

During the off-season, we've been getting to know you a bit more and have had awesome discussions because of this. This week you can learn more about the MHH staff through a series of questions.

Today is all about Cheryl. What does this awesome person have to say about her love of hockey, her sleeper pick, her favorite hockey book and much more?!

What attracted you to hockey? Does your family have a passion for it, was it always the Avalanche that you liked?
I think I like hockey so much because there is rarely any down time. The action is fast, and momentum can shift at any time. I also like the dichotomy of it: at the same time, it can be brutal and dangerous but also fluid and beautiful. My favorite part, though, is the sounds of the game. I love closing my eyes and just listening. That's one of the reasons I go to their practices so much. The smell of the ice is another favorite. My aunt and uncle are die hard Avs fans. I can always expect a text after a big win or ugly loss. I became an Avs fan as soon as it was announced the Nordiques were moving here. My mom grew up in CO, so we were always Broncos fans. It made perfect sense to me to affiliate myself to a Colorado hockey team.

(More after the jump.)

What about MHH? How'd you find it, what kept you here? How'd you become part of the staff? What is your favorite part of MHH?
I found MHH through DDC's In the Cheap Seats blog. I stayed because of the people in the community (and because ITCS went belly-up). DDC asked me if I was interested in joining the staff. At first, I said no, but I eventually came around. My favorite part of MHH is that I've made some lifelong friends here who have become a very special part of my life.

What are you looking forward to the most about this up-coming season?
I'm really looking forward to seeing our new defense in action. I think we've picked up some solid players, and I'm anxious to see how they mesh. I'm also interested in seeing what kind of leaps Gaunce and O'Reilly will make. I think they're both poised to break out.

Who is your "sleeper" pick for the 2012 season?
I'm going with Galiardi. I think he's going to flourish on the third line, and he and O'Reilly are going to develop a chemistry that's almost Sedin-like. They had it on the PK in 2009-2010; solid time together is going to bring it back.

What are some nicknames you go by?
Oh lord. What's the word limit on this question?

Your favorite player? Is there one guy that you could just watch for hours and not get bored?
Current or past? Past would be Forsberg 100% of the time. Current? I'd have to go with Hejduk.

All Star weekend yay or nay?
Meh. I think the players like it, so why not? I rarely watch any of it myself.

Your favorite hockey book?
Theo Fleury's Playing with Fire

Outside of MHH, what's your favorite website?
I'm not sure I'd call it my favorite, but I'm on Facebook quite a bit. It's my primary way of keeping up-to-date on my friends' lives - at least those who don't live near me.

During the off-season what is your favorite thing to do?

Travel, although I wasn't able to do that this summer or last. I usually go on one big trip a year. Greece was the last place I went; I'm headed to Hawaii in April (thereby assuring that the Avs will make the playoffs) and shooting for Scotland next summer or an Alaskan cruise in September.

What is your favorite hockey movie?
Miracle.

The thing you want to know most about another staff member?
Who's this Joe guy everyone keeps talking about?
