Sandie is busy getting a pedicure, so DDC is pinch hitting today with a fresh batch of cupcakes

The Monsters opened camp yesterday and posted a few pics to their twitter feed, such as the photo above, this one of Bordeleau and Gaunce and a look at the four goalies' masks. The Plains Dealer has a look at camp as well (stick tap to Angelique on this one).

"I don't know a whole lot about everyone," [Dean Chenowyth] said Tuesday at the team's media day. "I know a little bit here and there, and I think that's a good thing. It will give each kid a clean slate. I don't have any preconceived notions of what you've done in the past. It's all going to be about what you're going to do moving forward."

This was posted in the comments yesterday, but in case you missed it here's a fairly ho-hum article with Djuargden's newest acquisition, Gabriel Landeskog.

First of all I am just going to be myself. That’s why they named me the captain. I’m not planning on changing how I approach the game, or how I play the game. Earning the respect of my teammates to be named captain means more to me than coming from anyone else. That’s something that I take to heart for sure and I’m proud of.

Speaking of that move to Sweden, Adrian Dater thinks that players taking jobs overseas is hurting the union.

And I believe it gives the wrong message to their NHL teammates. What does fourth-line plugger Cody McLeod, sitting at home making no money, think of his captain, Landeskog, jetting off to Sweden for paid hockey among family and friends? So much for union brotherhood through all the tough times, eh?

oh, and in site related news, I figured out how to frontpage fanposts and fanshots. So that's something!
