The win was Millan’s third straight in net for the Cutthroats, who also picked up their first road win in franchise history to kick off a four-game series this week against the Rush.

Denver (6-7-0) opened up the scoring with the first period’s only goal as JP Chabot buried a rebound in front from Joel Chouinard’s point shot at 7:27 on the power play.

In period two the Cutthroats added to their lead as Luke Fulghum scored his fourth of the season at 8:57 from the bottom of the right circle. Of the four goals scored this season by Fulghum, three have come against the Rush (7-6-1). With 3:01 left in the frame, Brett Lutes poked in a loose puck in the goal crease to make it a 3-0 lead for Denver. Gabe Gauthier earned the assist on the goal as he and Lutes both extended their individual point streaks to six games.

Kyle Peto added Rapid City’s only goal midway through the third before Jamie MacQueen tallied Denver’s fourth of the night on a slap shot with just over two minutes to play.

Millan has given up just two goals in his last three appearances stopping 79 of 81 shots over that span.

Denver finished 1-for-5 on the power play while Rapid City went 0-for-6.

Tim Boron took the loss in net for Rapid City.

The two teams will meet again on Friday in the Black Hills before their four-game set shifts to the Denver Coliseum on Saturday and Sunday. Friday’s game begins at 7:05 PM MST.
