Luke Walker's shorthanded goal in the second period proved to be the game-winning tally for the Monsters, who picked up their third win in a row; all three of which have been by one goal. Bryan Lerg also scored for the Monsters; his sixth goal in as many games. Friday was the middle of three games in three days for Lake Erie this weekend, and second of a seven-game road swing for the team.
The Admirals struck first on the power play at 12:27 of the first period when Michael Latta scored on a rebound.
With 47 seconds left in the first period, Lerg batted in a rebound on the power play to tie the game at 1-1; his sixth goal of the season and sixth in his last six games. Geoff Walker and Michael Sgarbossa assisted.
Luke Walker gave the Monsters a 2-1 lead with a shorthanded goal when he swatted in the rebound from a Paul Carey attempt at 9:04 of the middle frame. The goal was Walker's third of the season.
After a scoreless third period, the Monsters would hold on for the 2-1 victory.
Pickard’s 42 saves marks a new season high for saves in a game by a Monsters goalie. Pickard is now 4-2-0. Jeremy Smith stopped 17 of 19 shots in the loss for Milwaukee; he is now 1-5-0.
